Privacy Policy

The following data privacy notice explains the circumstances in which Round The Code will collect personal data from you, why it is being collected and how we will use it.

The data controller

Round The Code is the controller and responsible for your personal data (collectively referred to as "Round The Code", "we", "us" or "our" in this privacy policy).

Round The Code is committed to complying with worldwide data protection laws for the protection of personal data, as well as the principles of data security in the configuration of our services. If you have any questions about this privacy notice or how we use your personal data, please contact us.

When you use the contact form or download one of our coding examples, we will need to take some personal details from you. This is so we can get in contact with you with a reply. You will need to disclose the following:

  • Name (Contact Form only)
  • Email Address

At present, we are currently not sharing any of this data with any third-party.

When providing your personal details in the contact form, your name and email address will not be shared with any third-parties without your prior consent.

At present, you can sign up to the newsletter by downloading one of our free code examples. When filling out the form, your email address will automatically be added to our newsletter mailing list.

When we start to send out the newsletter, we are likely to use a third-party tool to do this. By signing up to the newsletter, or requesting to download one of our code examples, you agree that you are happy for us to use your email address in a third-party mailing tool.

To unsubscribe from our newsletter mailing list, please fill out your email address in the unsubscribe form.

Website cookies

When you access our website, temporary data about your visit is stored and processed through the use of cookies. This information is anonymous and is used by us to better understand the use of our site, including the number of visitors we have, the pages with the most interest and what device you are using. This allows you to have a better site experience as we use this data to make improvements based on users' behaviour.

Google Analytics

The following data is collected from Round The Code for use with Google Analytics:

  • IP Address and location
  • Date, time and duration of your visit
  • Page information and URL of viewed pages
  • Browser and operating system
  • The URL of the page where the user came from

The data listed above is only used for statistics and improvements to the website. We will not try to identify you by IP address unless we have to do so by law.

By default, browsers will automatically accept cookies. However, you can set your browser options so that they deny cookies. But be aware that by denying cookies, some areas of the site may not perform properly. You can also delete existing cookies from your browser.

To opt out of Google Analytics, you can download the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on which is available on all major browsers.

A2 Hosting

We have joined A2 Hosting affiliates scheme to deliver web hosting advertising. These adverts are shown to all users and are not cookie based.

A2 Hosting will collect information about the number of times that a particular advert has been loaded.

However, it's not until you click on an advertising link or banner where A2 Hosting will collect more information about the user.

The types of data that A2 Hosting collect when clicking on one of their advertising links or banners include:

  • Date/time of click
  • Referral URL
  • IP Address
  • Whether the user made a purchase through A2 Hosting

Stripe

We use Stripe as our online payment provider when you purchase a code example. We'll ask you for an email address and agree to the terms and conditions. This information is stored in our internal database.

As Stripe are responsible for taking the payment details, this information is stored within their internal systems and as a result we have no access to any of your payment details.

When a user is returned to the website after taking payment details from Stripe, we call Stripe's API to get certain information about the order. This includes the payment status, the order status, how much was paid along with the currency and whether it was a live order. This information is stored within our internal systems to help us decide whether payment for an order was successful.

Tracking on YouTube videos

Every time a user plays one of the YouTube videos on the website, we log that information into our internal database.

The reason for this is so we know which YouTube videos are popular with our users.

The only information we collect is the video's unique identifier for YouTube, the video's title and the current date/time. No personal or identifiable information is collected.

This information is deleted from our internal database after seven calendar days.

Third-party links

Please note that this data privacy notice only applies to Round The Code. If you click on an advertisement, or a link to another website, you will be redirected to a third-party and we have no control over how your information is used, or what happens with any information you have submitted. Please get in contact with the relevant third party to understand how they use your data.

Length of stored data

At present, we have no set time limit as to the amount of time we intend to keep your data.

Request or removal of data

You have the right to request what data we hold of you. Please note that this will only be data where we can personally identify you, either through your name or email address. This will not include data that is held through Google Analytics, Google AdSense, YouTube, or A2 Hosting as we have no way of personally identifying you through these channels.

If you wish to make a request for what data we collect of you, or wish to have your data removed, please contact us. We aim to do this within 28 calendar days of the original request.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

This policy will be reviewed and changed from time-to-time. Round The Code reserves the right to change this data protection with effect in the future. Any changes made will be reflected on this page, including what data we collect and how we use the data. We advise you to check out this page from time to time.
